Here is a easy and really tasty way to cook a springchick. You do
need a decent smoker.

Coat whole chicken with olive oil; rub with seasoning (your favorite
season salt mix will do)

OR

Brine chicken overnight (soak in water w/ salt, sugar, garlic, other
spices)

Open Beer can; shove up butt.
Smoke with mesquite or hickory (or you favorite smoking wood) for
about 5 hours (about 225F)
Remove beer can. Eat (the chicken that is)

This even freezes well as we just found out a couple of days ago
after we finally thawed a leftover chicken from a late summer party.

Mr. Pungent,
Her Ladyship is MOST upset with you. Always anxious to expand her
expert culinary skills, her Ladyship decided to try your recipe for
Springchick. Finding the instructions a bit odd when the step
involving the beer came up, her Ladyship consulted with Bartleby who
assured her Ladyship that this step should be taken literally. Well,
after 3 embarrassing days in the hospital and suffering what is most
assuredly the worst blow to her Ladyship's reputation we find no
choice but to file suit to find some recompense for your irresponsible
"recipe" and lax use of the Queen's English. Expect to be hearing from
her Ladyship's solicitors. And please, dear discuss list readers, do
NOT attempt this recipe! Or, if you must just remember the beer goes
IN the CHICKEN.

If any of you are in the need of a butler, Bartleby is looking for new
employment.

Sincerely,
LP

I wish to apologize to you profusely. I must be more careful in the
future. I made sure to specify that you eat the chicken not the beer
can, but I indeed did not specify where the beer can goes. I also
neglected to specify that the about 225F applies to the smoking
temperature. The temperature of the chicken needs to only be 180F.

Please forward your medical bills and other expenses to:

I assure you they will be paid promptly.

OMG!!! I've had a harrowingly stressful work week and this posting
finally put me over the edge! I'm ROTFLMBO!!! Thanks for the
exercise! My ribs (& 4th pt of contact) might recover from this
workout in a week or two. ;) More aerobics than letterboxing has
provided me in ages!!! By the way, which beer do you recommend?
Pabst BR or Schlitz???

Shouldn't that be an offshore bank? Or at least the one upon which it
will be drawn? ;) So sorry for the intestinal discomfort
(would 'dismemberment' be a better term for it?).
